In Singapore, the Goethe-Institut
was established in 1978 and has
become a relevant partner for
local cultural and educational institutions.
German Language Courses and
Teacher Training
The Goethe-Institut sets internationally
recognised standards
in the teaching and learning of
German as a foreign language.
In Singapore the Goethe-Institut
offers company courses specially
tailored to the needs of managers
and local employees of Singaporean
institutions and German
companies and offers a youth programme
for bilingual families.
Cultural Co-operation
The Goethe-Institut monitors
trends in Germany and encourages
cultural collaboration
across the globe by initiating exchange
projects and organising
programmes of cultural events
and making contributions to
various festivals and exhibitions
in the fields of film, dance, music,
theatre, literature and translation
as well as fine arts, architecture
and design.

In our library visitors can experience
Germany directly through
themed media collections, comprehensive
learning, and competent
representatives of the
German Academic Exchange
Centre (DAAD).
Café and Restaurant
The LOKAL serves hearty and
healthy German and European
dishes of a wide variety from
breakfast to dinner.
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung
(KAS) is a political foundation
of Germany. Its mission is to
promote international dialogue,
regional integration, sustainable
development, good governance,
democratic processes, social
market economy and exchange
of information. It is named after
the first Chancellor (Prime
Minister) of the Federal Republic
of Germany, Konrad Adenauer
(1876-1967).
Our more than 80 offices
abroad are in charge of over 200
projects, organising national
and international conferences,
conducting research, offering
civic education and political
trainings, and cultivating
international understanding.
Through its international activities
and projects together with local
partners in over 120 countries,
KAS makes a substantial
contribution to international
cooperation. The regional office
in Singapore runs three regional
programmes.
The Political Dialogue Programme
Asia and the Pacific aims to
contribute to the strengthening
of regional integration, global
governance, and international
dialogue among Asian countries
as well as between Europe, Asia
and Australasia.
Its main activities include:
• Dialogue among
parliamentarians and
politicians;
• Dialogue and exchange among
representatives of leading
think tanks;
• Cooperation with the ISEAS
Yusof Ishak Institute and
Consortium of South Asian
Think Tanks (COSATT) to
promote analyses and events
on regional integration;
• Political analysis and
consultation;
• Training programs for members
of political parties and civil
society organizations;
• Publication of books and the
journal “Panorama: Insights
into Southeast Asian and
European Affairs”.
The Media Program seeks to
promote a free, responsible and
ethical press in the region. The
key initiatives are:
• Promotion of Asia News
Network (ANN) that brings
together the leading English
language newspapers in
Asia to share knowledge and
exchange news and views;
• The KAS E-lection Bridge
Asia-Pacific which discusses
the use of social media
surrounding elections in the
Asia-Pacific region and digital
electioneering;
• Support of the Konrad-
Adenauer Asian Center for
Journalism at the Ateneo
de Manila University in the
Philippines.
The Rule of Law Program aims
to promote the rule of law
development, constitutional,
procedural as well as
environmental law and judicial
independence through regional
seminars, research and training
activities. Key initiatives are:
• Support to the Association of
Asian Constitutional Courts
and Equivalent Institutions
(AACC);
• Regular colloquia for
representatives of human
rights organizations and anticorruption
agencies;
• Roundtables for experts from
legal institutions such as the
drafters of the ASEAN Charter,
leading universities,
global think tanks and
administrative officials
