SGC Young Professionals Network Kickoff Event
with Mr Hanno Stegmann, CEO of Asia Pacific Internet Group,
Rocket Internet
This year, the SGC began a new initiative:
The Young Professionals Network (YPN).
This initiative aims to cater to young
professionals between the ages of
25-35, tailoring services and events to
address the different needs and interests
of the younger working community. On
27 June, we kicked off the programme
with a keynote speech from Mr Hanno
Stegmann, who gave a presentation on
“Asia’s Diamonds in the Rough — The
High Potential of Frontier Markets for
E-commerce”.
With over 50 participants in attendance,
many had questions that Mr Stegmann
addressed with ease, sharing his personal
experience and knowledge on the
subject. The night concluded with causal
networking between the participants over
food and drink, and the SGC looks forward
to another successful event.

SGC Business Luncheon on “Smart Technologies —
Why Hamburg and Singapore are Working Together”,
with Mr Olaf Scholz, First Mayor of the City of Hamburg
The city of Hamburg is in many ways parallel to Singapore as a
bustling port city, and Mr Scholz graced the luncheon to share,
amongst other issues, how Singapore and Hamburg’s similarities
could help them as they deal with similar challenges and
problems by sharing solutions and exchanging ideas.
He stressed the importance of being future-ready, mentioning
several strategies Hamburg is promoting, such as flattened
factories, intelligent transport systems and traffic management,
amongst others. As two cities similar in nature, with the same
vision and outlook, the potentials for collaboration are high, and
should be leveraged on in the years to come.
