CSC’S CHANGING FOCUS<br />
At CSC, we understand <strong>the</strong>se fundamental<br />
shifts. Our bus<strong>in</strong>ess is chang<strong>in</strong>g even though<br />
we rema<strong>in</strong> an outsourc<strong>in</strong>g company. We are<br />
now mov<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to bus<strong>in</strong>ess services, where we<br />
see very significant growth <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> digitization<br />
area. We have restructured our bus<strong>in</strong>ess to<br />
map our customer’s digitization journey and<br />
support <strong>the</strong>m through <strong>the</strong> entire process.<br />

CSC key priorities and <strong>in</strong>vestment areas are:<br />
1. Investment <strong>in</strong> a new generation of offer<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />
We have moved from more than 2,000<br />
customized, nonstandard offer<strong>in</strong>gs to<br />
14 standard offer<strong>in</strong>g families, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Applications Modernization, BizCloud, STAAS,<br />
Next-Gen DC & Networks, ServiceNow, Big<br />
Data, Mobility, IoT and Cyber Security.<br />
2. Develop<strong>in</strong>g our people and skills to provide<br />
client- and market-relevant capabilities,<br />
we will have more than 50 per cent of CSC<br />
employees with next-gen skills by FY19.<br />
3. Cont<strong>in</strong>ued R&D <strong>in</strong>vestment <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> CSC<br />
agility platform. This provides blue pr<strong>in</strong>ts<br />
and universal connectors for application<br />
modernization and cloud brokerage for<br />
clients to achieve <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>Digital</strong> ambitions.<br />
Our platform approach also differentiates<br />
us from competition who are predom<strong>in</strong>antly<br />
framework oriented.<br />
4. Leverag<strong>in</strong>g our selected partner ecosystem to<br />
offer best <strong>in</strong> class digital solutions – <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
R&D and assets leveraged from partners.<br />
5. Next-Gen focused acquisitions <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g:<br />
Infochimps, ServiceMesh, Fruition Partners<br />
and Fixnetix.<br />
CONCLUSION<br />
What we are witness<strong>in</strong>g today is a seismic<br />
shift <strong>in</strong> global bus<strong>in</strong>ess models. The traditional<br />
models are be<strong>in</strong>g completely disrupted. These<br />
shifts will alter <strong>the</strong> course of every <strong>in</strong>dustry<br />
<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> <strong>IT</strong> services <strong>in</strong>dustry. Visionary<br />
companies are able to see <strong>the</strong> emerg<strong>in</strong>g<br />
opportunities and transform <strong>the</strong>mselves to<br />
exploit <strong>the</strong>se opportunities. At CSC, we<br />
understand <strong>the</strong> implications of <strong>the</strong>se disruptions<br />
and have prepared ourselves to enable our<br />
customers, not only to cope with change, but<br />

ABOUT THE AUTHOR<br />
MARK PICKETT is <strong>the</strong> CFO for CSC’s UK, Ireland<br />
and Ne<strong>the</strong>rlands region and has over 20 years’<br />
experience <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>IT</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustry where he has<br />
held responsibility and accountability for<br />
adm<strong>in</strong>istrative, f<strong>in</strong>ancial, and risk management<br />
operations. Before jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g CSC, Mark was <strong>the</strong><br />
F<strong>in</strong>ance Vice President for Oracle.<br />
Mark is a leader who <strong>in</strong>spires and motivates<br />
o<strong>the</strong>rs with a dist<strong>in</strong>ct vision for change and<br />
an ability to set clear f<strong>in</strong>ancial objectives and<br />
strategies. With his strong technology<br />
experience and bus<strong>in</strong>ess knowledge, he has a<br />
unique perspective <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> way technology<br />
impacts bus<strong>in</strong>ess, enabl<strong>in</strong>g him to formulate<br />
future strategy and tactical <strong>in</strong>itiatives. Mark<br />
holds a degree <strong>in</strong> Law from University College<br />
