‘A’ LEVEL RESULTS
Ratcliffe Students celebrate outstanding ‘A’ Level results.
Ratcliffe College is delighted with another impressive set of GCSE results. Following
the College’s outstanding inspection, these excellent results reinforce this message.

A* grades, with 48%
of all grades A*/A.
The College takes
pride in supporting
all students, teaching
a wide spectrum of
abilities; with 87%
of all grades being
C or better, there is
clearly significant
value added to all our
students regardless
of their ability.
Headmaster, Mr Gareth Lloyd
commented: “Our examination results
have, yet again, proven that we stretch
the most able while at the same time
supporting every individual, nurturing
their own personal strengths. I am
immensely proud of my students’
achievements and of the unstinting
commitment of my colleagues to each
and every child.”
In the very difficult Further
Mathematics examination, which
is far more challenging than GCSE Mathematics, there was
an increase in the A/A*; 23% of the Year group achieved
grade A or above (including A**), significantly bucking the
national trend.
Top students were Philip Gyesi-Appiah (11A*s, including
A* with Distinction in Further Maths), Joseph Smith (10 A*s
and 1 A), Tom Cusack and Nathalie Dawe (both with A* with
Distinction, 8 A*s and 2 As), Esme Kelly (8 A*s and 3 As) and
David Hippisley-Cox (A* with Distinction, 7A*s and 2 As).

Ratcliffe College is delighted with its outstanding
‘A’ Level results. Last year, the College was
awarded ‘Excellent’ in all categories by the
Independent Schools’ Inspectorate and the
‘A’ Level data has reinforced the Inspectors’
comments that the attainment of the students
across all external examinations is excellent.
An impressive 5% of Year 13 students gained
entry into Oxbridge or Ivy League Universities
and 13% scored A*A*A or better. The College
provides for a wide range of abilities and yet
there was a 100% pass rate at ‘A’ Level with
71% of all grades being A*-B, and 41% of all
grades being A or A*. The majority of students
have secured their First Choice University.
Headmaster, Mr Gareth Lloyd,
commented: “Our current Year 13
students have been wonderful in every
way; I am so proud of them: they have
worked extremely hard to access exciting
and fulfilling opportunities after school;
they have played hard in a fantastic
variety of extra-curricular activities,
especially sport, music and drama; and
most importantly, they have looked after
each other and others both within the
School community and beyond. I am
delighted that their exemplary work ethic
has been rewarded with demonstrable
academic success.”
