EXTRA-CURRICULAR OVERVIEW
The extra-curricular programme is an important part
of our College and has helped our students experience
a busy and rewarding year.
This year has again been a very busy
one for the Ratcliffe College CCF.
There have been a number of field
training exercises and the RAF group
have had the opportunity to go flying.
Both pupils and staff have been fully involved in an exciting
array of activities. We hope you managed to watch some of
the wonderful productions as well as support the pupils on
the playing fields. Many of the exciting events can be read
about on the various pages above.
One new club that offers something different is the
Conservation Society. The pupils have taken part in tasks such
as planting to attract bees and butterflies, erecting nest boxes,
rescuing hedgehogs and establishing habitats for their release
- there are exciting future plans, so watch this space!
The Ratcliffe College Go4set team won the Regional
competition; this was a wonderful achievement and
demonstrates the fantastic effort that is invested into
extracurricular clubs. The winning team designed an
eco-friendly hotel; well done to all the pupils involved.
The Debating club has continued to grow in popularity.
One by-product was a whole School debate regarding the
question posed in the European Union Referendum.
Overall, a closely fought contest led to the pupils voting for
the UK to stay in the EU.
The School community has again made significant
contributions to many different charities. This year we have
raised over £30,000, an outstanding achievement. A large
number of pupils continue to give up their time as part of the
extracurricular programme to help support these charities.
One such example is the VSU group that meet once a week
to help at the local community centre in Syston.
I would like to thank all staff and students for their ongoing
hard work and commitment to the extracurricular
programme over the course of the year.

Extra-curricular Activities Co-ordinator
The unit spent a week on the river Allier
in the South of France over the Easter
period 2016 canoeing , kayaking and
stand up paddle boarding. This year we
have been able to call on the support
of the 2 Royal Anglian Regiment. They
have sent a small team of soldiers to
help enhance our weekly training by
showing cadets equipment used in the
modern British Army.
The RAF cadets over the last year have
been much more active with EALT training
weekends, flying and museum visits.
Both units had successful central camps
in the summer, Army section went to
Beckingham and the RAF to RAF Valley.
