Our photographs demonstrate what a truly
magnificent academic year we have all had in the Nursery. We enjoyed welcoming
our new children during the course of the year and also our new staff: Miss Orton
in Cygnets 1, in November 2015 and Miss Angus in Afterschool care, in January.
Congratulations to Miss Langton on the birth of her baby boy, Morley, and Miss Lott
on the birth of Finley.
During the autumn term we were all exceptionally busy,
firstly adjusting to all our new routines and most importantly
discovering so many new and exciting things. Our friends
helped us to understand that we need to look after and love
one another. This we did splendidly during the course of the
year. We grew and developed in so many ways and definitely
not just in height! One of our first great adventures was
visiting Beaumanor Hall for their Nursery Rhyme Day. The
Cygnets loved dressing up as the Grand Old Duke of York’s
soldiers and also enjoyed filling up buckets of water to help
Jack and Jill.
The Swans Class
ventured further afield
for their first adventure
to the Attenborough
Centre in Nottingham.
In the woods the Swans
enjoyed investigating
the falls of autumn
and hunting out grubs
to feed a hibernating
hedgehog. We were
excellent hunters, finding slugs
and worms under leaves and stones.
After half term we celebrated
Diwali and Bonfire Night and
then preparations were in
full swing for our Lower Prep Nativity
production. This year we loved dressing
up as the animals in the stable, whilst
Years 1 and 2 acted out the story
beautifully. Our two performances were
amazing; all the children made their
teachers and their parents very proud
and standing ovations were the order of the day. Our Immac
celebrations were also very special. The Cygnets were kept
on their toes literally, with their interactive story, venturing on
a Bear Hunt, with the Freshwater theatre company.
The Swans loved their visit to the Royal concert hall in
Nottingham to see Aladdin, with Years 1 and 2. Our autumn
term happily concluded with our Christmas lunch and a visit
from “you know who” – shhh!
During the spring term we all enjoyed our
pancake races, with the Preparatory School;
luckily we did not drop too many. The
pancakes we made back in the Nursery
were extremely tasty. We
celebrated World Book
Day, by dressing up as a
character from our favourite
story book and Come Dine
with Me week was a great
success once again. Our
mummies loved joining us
for lunch and reading us stories.
Our next adventure was to White Post
Farm which helped us to understand how
farm animals grow and change. This we
could see on a daily basis as our incubator full of quails eggs
were transforming before our very eyes! Towards Eastertime
we also learnt about Jesus’s new life and made some truly
exquisite Easter eggs for our Easter egg competition. Well
done, Abigail Cole, Gyaan Sagoo and Isabelle Ashfield, who
were the lucky winners this year.
