FIRE IT UP together with Ignition TV donate 500 balls and scooters FIRE IT UP’s Craig Langton and his team has decided to go without their Christmas end of the year function and will be using the complete allowance to purchase kids balls and scooters which they and Ignition TV will donate to the Salvation Army Homes for Christmas. “Balls made sense as one ball can make several kids happy. This year and maybe future years we will be doing this, other companies should follow suit, as the charities certainly need this more than the companies. It’s not a huge offer as we are a brand-new operation with very few staff members but it will surely help with making 500 kids happier for Christmas. We also KTM chairman Stefan Pierer has confirmed to German publication Speedweek that the Austrian manufacturer will produce a 1000cc V4 replica of the new RC16 machine it will be racing in MotoGP in 2017. Intended for circuit use only, the replica machine will join Ducati’s Desmosedici RR and Honda’s RC213V-S as ultimate race replica machines but the point of difference being the KTM won’t be road legal. “Next year we will be racing with the RC16, but a year later we will tackle it [the race replica],” Pierer told Speedweek.com. “We want to build at least 100 pieces and also offer this product at a very affordable price.” As for being a true race replica, the KTM differs from the Ducati and Honda with a no-holds-barred approach. “This motorcycle will not receive any road welcome Ignition TV on board as a joint sponsor,” said Craig Langton. Giving and social responsibility involvement has always been something that Craig supported over his years in business and FIRE IT UP recently set up a fund-raising program titled ‘Paying It Forward’ whereas each customer that purchases a motorcycle from them receives a R10 note and is asked approval – it is only intended for closed racetracks. We want it to be as close to the MotoGP bikes as possible.” To do this the machine won’t be a match for the factory racebike on power – to ensure better reliability presumably – but more importantly price will be a driving factor. “270hp it won’t be, more likely 240hp. I definitely want to get a much lower price for this production racer than Honda offers. “I would like to see that we are heading towards €100,000 or €120,000 (R1,5M – R1,8M). Affordable riding is our philosophy.” Not to sure how affordable that is but there are many out there who would splash the cash on a MotoGP replica machine, including us, if we had it! to ‘Pay It Forward’ and donate the R10 to a charity of his or her choice. “We have seen some wonderful examples and initiatives from customers paying it forward, one customer donated his late model superbike at a total cost of R120 000 which was one of the largest donations we have ever had,” said Craig Langton.
