Endurance World
Championship/MotoAmerica
Superstock 1000)
Number: 86
Born: 11/03/1985
From: Johannesburg
Bike(s): YART Yamaha (FIM Endurance
World Championship) Team Rabid Transit
Superstock 1000 Yamaha (MotoAmerica)
Sheridan Morais is no new kid on the
block, he’s been there and done that. Morais
at 31, has experienced racing at the highest
levels having spent much of his career in
World Superbike and the support classes of
World Superbike, such as the Superstock
1000 and World Supersport championships.
Before all that however, he was a force to be
reckoned with in the South African National
championships. He won the Superbike title
in 2006 then again in 2009 while going on
to win the South African Supersport title that
same year. He would defend his Superbike
title the following year. Morais then moved
on to race in the Superstock 1000 cup in
2011and in 2012 would finish an impressive
6th overall in the World Supersport
championship. In 2014 he competed in the
World Superbike championship and finished
18th overall onboard the Grllini Kawasaki.
2015 saw Morias make his debut in
MotoAmerica with Aprilia HSBK Racing and
was also a part of the FIM Endurance World
Championship with YART Yamaha.
2016
Morais was still with the team for the FIM
Endurance World Championship for 2016
while still in MotoAmerica, with Team Rabid
Transit. Injury plagued Sheridan’s season
and unfortunately would not feature much in
the Endurance season, where the Yart team
would finish sixth overall. The 2017 FIM
Endurance World Championship season
has however already kicked off. The first
race of the season was at the 24hour Bal
d’or in France. Morais would ride alongside
Broc Parkes and Josh Hayes, another two
well-known riders. The race would finish
in disappointment for the team as they
retired 15 hours in. Sheridan’s MotoAmerica
season started off strong before injury
halted his progress. Round 1 at the circuit
of the Americas saw him take fifth in race
1 and ninth in race 2. Round 2 at Road
Atlanta, and Sheridan again produced
two top ten performances. Ninth in race 1
and tenth in race 2. Round 3 is where his
season would unfortunately be halted and
he picked up in injury in race 1. Mathew
Scholtz would be brought in to replace
him for the rest of the season. Sheridan
Morais will be back in the World SuperSport
Championship in 2017 on the new Yamaha
R6. He will ride for Team Kallio Yamaha.
