Mobile fuel management
Within days of launching a redesign of its websites
www.scribblesoftware.com and www.marinaoffice.net,
Scribble Software has launched marinaGO POS v2, its
newest mobile point-of-sale app with integrated fuel
management. Built for the iOS and Android platforms, the
marinaGO point-of-sale is claimed to be the first native
mobile app in the industry to offer real-time integrated fuel
management and is available for the iPhone, iPad, iPod
and Android devices.
Described as the ‘mobile
dockhand’, marinaGO POS
frees marina operators
from traditional countertop
point-of-sale stations and
fuel consoles by offering
completely wireless
integrated fuel dispenser
control and sales register
capabilities in the palm of
the hand while out on the
fuel dock. The app users will
be able to easily control fuel
dispensers, complete fuel
transactions and tender any
other type of sale with the
use of merchant-supported
payment methods including
credit cards. A unique feature
for the marina industry
includes the ability to include
any sale, including fuel
transactions, on internal
ticket charges.
“The marinaGO POS
fuel management app will
revolutionise the marina
industry,” says Vance Young,
director of technology for
Scribble Software. “Marina
staff are now able to devote
their attention to providing
better service at the fuel
dock by offering start to
finish fuelling activity without
leaving the customer’s side.”
The marinaGO POS app
features a mobile sales
register and integrated fuel
management. It supports
most fuel dispenser brands
and types (gasoline/petrol,
diesel, blended and other
fuel types) and completes
sales with cash, cheque and
credit card payments. The
product also supports mobile
magnetic card readers (MSR)
and synchronises sales to
back office accounting.
The app can be
downloaded in the iOS
iTunes app store or the
Google Play app store.
Taking control of ‘daily inspections’
High tech learning and simulation training company Mymic Training Technologies has released a new smartphone
app designed to help marinas and boatyards with equipment and facility inspections.
Electronic Marine
Equipment Checklist or
eMEC is available on
both Google Play and
iTunes. Designed to help
marinas complete OSHA
required daily inspections
for forklifts and travel lifts,
eMEC allows the user to
scan a barcode, complete
a machine-specific safety
check and upload the
record to cloud storage for
retrieval at a later date as
needed.
Mymic director of marina
safety programmes, Robert
Smith, explained: “Our
goal is to help marinas and
boatyards enhance safety
programmes and OSHA
compliance by leveraging
technology. eMEC is a perfect
tool to quickly and easily
conduct the required OSHA
daily inspection and create
the records needed.”
Rick Chapman, general
manager at The Port of
Sunnyside Club in Stillwater,
Minnesota, one of the first
to adopt the app, said it has
made life much easier. “In
the past I struggled with
my travel lift and forklift
operators to get them to fill
out and maintain our daily,
OSHA required, inspection
log. Once I had the app
installed on their smart
phones, they took ownership
of the daily inspections
immediately and I can check
to make sure the inspections
have been submitted without
ever leaving my desk,” he
noted.
The company has plans
to continue expanding
its marina safety training
programme in the near
future, adding new on-site
instructor training such as
the OSHA 10 course and
CPR training.
