Urvashi Kaur’s collection named<br />
KUL is an ode to oneness and totality in<br />
the time of cultural cross pollination.<br />
The designer is inspired by Ethiopian<br />
artist Dawit Abebe’s mixed media<br />
paintings and incorporated colours like<br />
faded blues, and brick pinks along with<br />
broken whites in her collection. The<br />
fabrics used were hand spun Khadi and<br />
linen along with Jamdani weaves as well<br />
as translucent Kota Doriya and sheer<br />
voiles. The silhouettes are voluminous<br />
comprising of salwars, pleated flare<br />
palazzos and dresses. The designer used<br />
techniques like resist dyeing such as<br />
Bandhej, tie & dye and Ombre. Along<br />
with dyes, embroideries such as Kantha<br />
and fabric manipulation have been<br />
incorporated in the collection.<br />
The creative designer duo, Gauri and Nainika’s collection portrayed blend of<br />
feminine innocence with fierce edginess, making it equal parts of sensual, soft and raw.<br />
The collection comprised of gowns and short dresses comprising of bouncy waves of<br />
ruffles, frills and flares in sheer organzas, silk and tulle fabrics. The silhouettes were<br />
asymmetric and hip skimming hemlines cinched waistlines floor length elaborate gowns<br />
with quite bouncy and extravagantly puffed shoulders and billowing sleeves.<br />
Rehane’s collection comprises of<br />
superfine Angora fabric for spring<br />
summer. The fabric is manipulated using<br />
laser cutting techniques and 3D appliqué<br />
of bright colours used on dull gray and<br />
earthy tones.The use of pastel colours<br />
gives the whole collection a soothing aura.<br />
The pastel and Chic is the USP of the<br />
designer brand. The brand works with cuts<br />
of fabrics and embellishments and it has<br />
become their specialty. They also work in<br />
Ethnic wear for wedding trousseau and<br />
occasions. The collection is made of sheer<br />
fabrics and embellished with Chinese<br />
machine embroidery.<br />
The collection by ILK is inspired from<br />
floral. The ruffles incorporated to look like<br />
plants and branches create shadow effect.<br />
The designer brand is known to use prints<br />
and embroideries. Their USP is the 3D<br />
textures they create on the garments using<br />
fabric manipulation and embroideries.<br />
The elegant designs were created using<br />
fabrics such as organza, cotton and nonwoven<br />
fabrics which were screen printed<br />
motifs as well. The simple and easy to war<br />
silhouettes comprised of basic shirt dresses<br />
and tunics for a casual day wear.<br />
Saaj by Ankita displayed a vibrant<br />
collection inspired by Gond art. It consists<br />
of bright coloured garments with Ethnic<br />
and animal motifs. The techniques used<br />
are hand embroidery combines with<br />
machine embroidery, appliqué work as<br />
well as fabric manipulation. The<br />
embroidery work has such minute details.<br />
The designer’s famous embellished collars<br />
caught the eye of the visitor as soon as they<br />
entered the stall. She is known to use<br />
luxurious fabrics such as silk and silk<br />
blends.<br />
Apart from these designers, others who<br />
displayed their wonderful collections were<br />
Rina Dhaka, Masaba, Manish Arora,<br />
