The Pheiffer family of CapeTown must
be one of the fastest around. Not
content with having former racing
driver Henry Pheiffer in the family, his
son, Adrian Pheiffer, former Western
Province RacingChampion, has got his
three sons into the act too.
The bays, Dale, Roy and Earl, are the
only three brothers to simultaneously
participate as a team in a single sport
in South Africa. They have don exceptionally
well in almost every motocross
race they have entered. BP Southern
Africa, in conjunction with Yamaha
will sponsor them as part of the BPI
Yamahateam for 1978.
Although Dale, 10. is prepared to take
tips from his older brothers, he is no
novice when it comes to motocross
racing. He won ten races on his 80cc
Yamaha in 1977 even though he has
beenracing for only two years.
Dale occasionally demonstrates his
riding skill at minicross - motocross
for under-twelves - at Goodwood,
Cape.Although not as experienced as
his brothers, his performance in the
past two years makes him a strong
contender for the South African
Championships.
Roy, 15 and Earl, 17. have been riding
for six years. Roy, the 1977 Western
Province 100cc Junior Champion, won
every race he finished last year.'He will
be riding a 125cc Yamaha this year to
qualify him for the senior races.
The brothers are determined to make
it to the top. It was only a broken wrist
that put Earl out of motocross action
for eight months last year. He too, will
be riding a 125ccin 1978.
