Students Pay<br />

Participants who are required to pay for a program are more likely to attend. Although free<br />

programs can reduce barriers to entry, they often result in overblown registration numbers<br />

that make them difficult to plan.<br />

Application-Only<br />

A selective application process can increase the perceived value of a program for participants<br />

and increase attendance and participation.<br />

Stipends<br />

Some programs - particularly those targeting low-income and at-risk populations - have found<br />

success with providing stipends to students who successfully complete programs. This means<br />

participants are paid a predefined amount of money when they complete the program. This<br />

approach enables learners who may otherwise need to work to make time for your program<br />

(and valuable skill building!).<br />
