Miri Airport
Sarawak's second busiest airport to increase routes for efficient airport service and travel
This is how the airport looks today!
Manah bertemu nuan! That's right.
Touchdown and throw a few phrases in
the widely spoken indigenous language
– Iban. Hey, if they can't understand your
accent, we still assure smiles all around.
The phrase earlier? That translates to
'pleased to meet you'.
The country's seventh busiest and the
state's second busiest after Kuching
International Airport, Miri Airport serves
the city of Miri and the northern region
of Sarawak.
The airport, located close to the border
of Brunei Darussalam, sees an average
of 5,500 to 7,500 passengers per day
and handled over 2.2 million passengers
with over 42,000 flights in 2016.
A major hub for MASWings which
provides rural domestic air services to
locations such as Mulu, Marudi, Lawas,
Bakelalan, Bario, Long Banga, Long
Lellang, Long Seridan and Long Akah,
the airport is also a major tourist hub
especially during the December and
festive seasons such as Hari Raya,
Chinese New Year and Christmas.
Its main apron was expanded in March
2016. Miri Airport can now cater up to
8 B738/A320, 9 ATRs and 4 Twin Otters
in terms of aircraft parking.
After the completed apron
developments, Miri Airport will expand
the terminal with more facilities such as
commercial outlets (expected,
unconfirmed for 2018).
The upgrades and improvements of the
airport are bound to provide passengers
with better, more comfortable airport
amenities that will offer efficient airport
service and travel.
