For the past 25 years, Malaysia Airports has sailed through its
achievements, thanks to a stellar team, continued support
from its stakeholders and the people who walk through its
doors every single day. As such, in line with our silver jubilee
celebration, we would like to do a throwback to past successes
Malaysia Airports has enjoyed.
Inspiration
Malaysia Airports has grown to be one of the world’s largest
private sector airport group in terms of number of passengers
handled as well as one of Malaysia's top two governmentlinked
company (GLCs) in terms of total shareholder returns,
managing 39 airports in Malaysia with overseas investments
in Turkey and India.
Our flagship airport and the nation’s premier gateway – KL
International Airport (KLIA) is one of the world’s top 25 busiest
airports catering to more than 60 airlines, serving over 110
destinations and handling nearly 50 million passengers a year.
KLIA also contributed to Malaysia Airports' streak of awardwinning
tradition, garnering accolades and recognition from
various international aviation bodies. For instance, it won the
Large Airport of the Year for Asia Pacific at the CAPA Awards
for Excellence in 2014.
DEVELOPING AN AIRPORT CITY
One of the four strategic pillars in Malaysia Airports' fiveyear
business plan RtS2020 (Runway to Success), KLIA
Aeropolis is a key economic enabler in formulating plans
for the future.
Datuk Badlisham Ghazali
KLIA Aeropolis will be an airport city that is envisioned to
be a destination for both business and leisure travellers. It
will serve as a pivotal meeting place for both international
and local trades to take place as well as a centre for business
and entertainment.
Realising the importance of how airports are fast becoming
an important link to global markets, the fruition of KLIA
Aeropolis is expected to boost Malaysia’s economic
development with its capability to bring in RM6.2 billion in
GDP and create 21,600 jobs.
