Everyone Needs Inspiration…
InCite Talks Inspires the Delray
Community to Rise to Life’s Challenges
By NICOL JENKINS
{
Ten years ago, Greg Goyins was homeless—
living on the beach in Delray, struggling to
survive, and always looking for his next fix.
Gregory Goyins and Mike Nussbaum Co-Founders of Epiphany
with Chris Herren, Motivational Speaker & Sobriety Advocate
“You name it, I did it—crack, cocaine, heroin,
pills,” he recalls.
His remarkable journey led him from a
life on the brink to becoming a successful
addiction-recovery maverick, and to founding
InCite Talks, a local nonprofit that invites
famous personalities to the Delray Beach
area to share their stories of heartbreak and
triumph to the community—all of it free of
cost to the public.
Goyins is passionate about saving lives,
and giving something back to the community
that helped save his. He hopes InCite
Talks will help build bridges between community
members and people who are in
addiction recovery. He wants them to rub
shoulders and realize that recovering addicts
are regular people. “They’re our kids,
our brothers and sisters, our neighbors and
friends,” says Greg.
The shared experiences of InCite Talks
events show that everybody has challenges
to overcome. Olympians, movie stars, comedians,
and athletes who have conquered
extreme life adversity to achieve greatness
have shared their stories.
Rex Chapman and Tony Hoffman
Some of the speakers have included: Actor
Lillo Brancato from A Bronx Tale and The
Sopranos who suffered from alcoholism and
drug addiction; former NBA Player Rex Chapman,
who spoke about his substance abuse;
and former NBA professional basketball
player Chris Herren, who recently shared his
tale of descent into addiction, a miraculous
recovery and his new life mission.
On March 4 at Pavilion Grille in Boca Raton
from 3 to 5 p.m., Inky Johnson, a onetime
cornerback for the Tennessee Vols, will share
his story. He was just eight games away from
a promising NFL career, when a seemingly
routine tackle almost ended his life. It cost
him his arm and his career, but it didn’t put
out his fire. Johnson is magnetic; he inspires
people to be better and do better.
