The Team
Jen has connected with former shop owner Ampi, an expert
merchandiser who keeps the shop fresh and the displays seasonally
appropriate and tasteful. She now works closely with
Jen helping to ensure a great product mix and a gorgeous store.
For many years, also, Jen has been blessed with a group of
women surrounding her with encouraging words, great ideas
and brilliant concepts. And she is grateful for all the influence,
help and life experiences these women have shared with her.
Cash for Stuff
Second Time Around usually pays cash for merchandise on
the spot. If your closets are too full, or just need refreshing, you
can “convert” your beautiful but seldom worn clothing, handbags
and accessories into spending money. Also, Jen will trade
handbags, jewelry, shoes, sunglasses and clothing customers
are seeking to “recycle”. More likely, she will purchase them
outright, providing helpful cash to customers, and a boost to the
“recycling” nature of her business. As an added service, home
consultations are available during hectic times when visiting
the store is not practical.
Donations
Eventually, items that don’t sell in the store are donated to
a variety of local non-profits, such as Wayside House, Caring
Kitchen and local churches that include Cason Methodist , St.
Vincent’s, St. Paul’s, and St. Joseph’s. As well, Jen has begun
partnering with Guylaine Richard, who heads up La Joie de Vivre
Research Community Development Center in Haiti. Guylaine’s
mission is to develop a model of integrated services and community
engagement to help populations that can be replicated
in other localities across Haiti.
Regular Events
Second Time Around holds regular weekend events like “Parking
Lot Sales” as a last chance to move the ever-changing merchandise
flowing through the store. Customers flock to this once a
month event. Plans are underway for a spring event that will include
wine and cheese, with specials galore inside the store. Contact
