Death.<br />
Grandfather Jakob Rempel died at his farm<br />
in Bergthal (Twincreek), 2 3/4 miles north of<br />
Mitchell, Manitoba, on April 5, 1926.<br />
In 1935 grandmother passed away and the<br />
farm was sold and the family members that had<br />
been involved in the farm together with mother<br />
moved to Steinbach.<br />
Children:<br />
Anna Rempel (1880-1962) married 1901<br />
Jakob Stoesz (1872-1939). They were farmers<br />
in the Prefontaine along P.T.H. 59.<br />
Helena Rempel (1882-1963) married 1902 to<br />
Peter B. Peters (1872-1932). They owned the<br />
Tourist Hotel in Steinbach. Peter was the<br />
brother to Jakob B. Peters who served as Reeve<br />
of the R. M. of Hanover. Peter’s son Jake R.<br />
Peters was a barber in Steinbach.<br />
Maria Rempel (1884-1935) married 1905<br />
Cornelius Krause (1886-1968). He was a<br />
farmer, cattle buyer and owned a transfer business<br />
in the Silberfeld/Landmark area. They<br />
were the grandparents of Jake K. Doerksen, Ile<br />
des Chenes, HSHS board member.<br />
Jakob L. Rempel (1886-1974) married 1906<br />
Katharina Krause (1888-1909) and second<br />
marriage 1910 Elisabeth Krause (1890-1975).<br />
They were farmers in the Silberfeld/Landmark<br />
area. They were the grandparents of Art<br />
Rempel, City of Steinbach Councillor and Rev.<br />
Wm. Rempel, Niverville.<br />
Katharina Rempel (1888-1937) married 1913<br />
Johann Loewen (1892-1966). They were farmers<br />
in Mexico.<br />
Aganetha Rempel (1890-1984) married 1912<br />
Abram B. Peters (1885-1971). They were farmers<br />
in the Ebenfeld area near Mitchell.<br />
Justina Rempel (1891-1985) married 1914<br />

Peter W. Peters (1889-1970). They were farmers<br />
in Mitchell. They were the parents of mail<br />
carrier Jake R. Peters and the grandparents of<br />
Wayne, Larry, and Peter Peters of Mitchell.<br />
Abraham F. Rempel (1892-1981) married<br />
Susanna Penner (1898-1926). Abram was a<br />
railway worker at Giroux. Later they lived on a<br />
farm in Silberfeld. After the death of his wife,<br />
they moved back to Bergthal and lived with his<br />
mother who had been widowed in 1926. In 1935<br />
when the farm was sold, the Abram Rempel<br />
family moved to Steinbach where he was a<br />
trucker and labourer. He was the father of Mary<br />
Rempel who married Henry K. Schellenberg,<br />
long-time Bishop of the Chortitzer Church.<br />
Agatha Rempel (1893-96).<br />
Margaretha Rempel (1896-1972) married<br />
1930 Cornelius P. Hiebert (1895-1986). They<br />
moved to Winkler. He was a barber and tailor.<br />
Later they settled in Steinbach where they<br />
owned a livery barn and a clothing store on<br />
Main Street. Two big trees stood in their front<br />
yard and so they were sometimes called<br />
“Hieberts unga dem Boum”, or “Hieberts under<br />
the tree”. Their daughter, Doris, and sonin-law,<br />
Dave Friesen, owned this property for<br />
many years operating “Steinbach Fabric Shop.”<br />
Another daughter Helen is married to Jack<br />
Loewen owner of “Loewen Auto Electric.”<br />
Agatha Rempel (1898-1989) married David<br />
P. Hiebert (1897-1982). They were farmers in<br />
Silberfeld, near the Manning Canal. They were<br />
the parents of Bill R. Hiebert, carpenter, Steinbach,<br />
and Nettie, Mrs. John M. Wiebe.<br />
Peter F. Rempel (1900-86) married Aganetha<br />
P. Hiebert (1907-89). He was a trucker and<br />
labourer. They owned farmland in Silberfeld.<br />
Moved to Steinbach in 1935. They were the<br />
parents of Ben Rempel, the author, Dora, married<br />
to Bill Dyck, manager of Loewen Funeral<br />
Home, Steinbach, and Jake Rempel, transport<br />
driver for Penner International.<br />

great-great grandchildren Bob and Lucy Reimer of<br />
Mitchell, Manitoba, and their children Garreth and<br />
Dana Rempel.<br />
Wilhelm Rempel (1902-94) moved to Steinbach<br />
1935. He was a trucker and labourer. He<br />
spent some time on the farm living with his<br />
sister and brother-in-law David and Agatha<br />
Hiebert.<br />
Sarah Rempel (1905-09).<br />
David Rempel (1909-85) married 1937 Agatha<br />
Unrau (1916-95). They lived in Hochfeld after<br />
they got married and then moved to Steinbach.<br />
David lived in Steinbach for two years prior to<br />
his marriage. He was a trucker and labourer.<br />
