PRESS BOX
The press box is located on the east side of
Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Press may enter the arena at the main entrance
(east side) and sign in to pick up their
credentials between the Sioux Shop and main
o� ce. Media parking will be available in the
northeast parking lot. You must have a media
parking pass (call in advance) to enter the lot
or you will be directed to the general parking
lots. Members of the press will be seated in the
main press box based on space availability.
MEDIA CREDENTIALS
Credentials will be issued ONLY to working
media, sports information personnel, league
o� cials or sta� members of competing institutions
with a legitimate need for access to the
press box. All requests for working media credentials
for the 2009-10 season must be made
in advance with Jayson Hajdu (701-777-2985)
in the UND media relations o� ce.
Please make requests at least one week prior to
the game you plan on covering. You may pick
up your parking passes in the Ralph Engelstad
Arena main o� ce before 4 p.m. on game days.
INTERVIEWS
Requests for interviews with players or members
of the coaching sta� may be made
through the UND media relations o� ce. Players
will return phone calls from the media either
collect or from the media relations o� ce.
Please make arrangements through the media
relations o� ce. Mornings are the best time to
reach head coach Dave Hakstol. Players and
coaches are available for media interviews
between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. each Wednesdays
during the season. It would be appreciated if
media would call ahead to inform the media
relations o� ce of their attendance at practice.
Coach Hakstol will be available for post-game
interviews. Players will be available in the media
room for post-game interviews only. The
locker room and the training room are o� limits
to the media.
NO media interviews will be conducted with
players prior to games.
RADIO AND TELEVISION
The Engelstad Arena press box has two electronic
media booths from which on-air radio
talent may broadcast games. One is reserved
for UND’s home radio station and one for the
visiting radio station. On-air television talent
can also be accommodated. Stations wishing
to broadcast games from Engelstad Arena are
asked to contact Jayson Hajdu in the UND media
relations o� ce at least three weeks in advance
of the games you intend to cover.
PHOTOGRAPHERS
Photography credentials are issued to media
and departmental photographers only. Photographers
must remain in designated areas
of the arena. Penalty box space is limited and
space will be assigned as available.
PRESS BOX OPERATIONS
Game programs, game notes, line charts, statistics
and media guides will be available in the
press box prior to all home games.
Shot charts and period statistics will be distributed
after each period while a complete game
summary will be available following the conclusion
of the game.
Remote statistics displays provide radio and
television announcers with information on
scoring, penalties and other game information.
Media have access to phones (credit card and
collect calls), electrical outlets and wireless internet
access in the press box.
Cheering and betting in the press box will not
be tolerated and violators will be removed
from the press box.
ON RADIO AND TELEVISION
The University of North Dakota signed a threeyear
contract with an option for a fourth year
with Clear Channel Communications (N.D.) in
August 2009 to serve as the � agship for Fighting
Sioux hockey radio broadcasts.
Eleven stations broadcast Sioux hockey
throughout North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana
and Canada. The � agship station for Sioux
hockey is KQHT “The FOX” 96.1 FM. Play-byplay
duties are handled by Tim Hennessy.
