THE UNIVERSITY<br />

Located in Grand Forks in the heart <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Red River Valley, the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>North</strong><br />

<strong>Dakota</strong> is the largest and most diversi� ed<br />

institution <strong>of</strong> higher learning in a threestate<br />

region. One <strong>of</strong> only 47 public<br />

institutions with both a law school and a<br />

medical school, UND consistently ranks<br />

by most measures as one <strong>of</strong> the top 150<br />

universities in the United States. Its nearly<br />

13,000 students – including about 2,500<br />

graduate students – come from every state in<br />

the union and more than 50 countries.<br />

Spreading out from the banks <strong>of</strong> the scenic<br />

English Coulee, the 549-acre <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>North</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> campus has been nationally<br />

recognized for its landscaping and beauty.<br />

The 223 buildings demonstrate both a classic<br />

university-setting architecture blended<br />

with more modern-looking facilities in the<br />

Center for Aerospace complex. UND’s newest<br />

additions are its $20 million Wellness Center, a<br />

$20 million state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art residence hall and<br />

a $20 million parking ramp.<br />

With more than 193 � elds <strong>of</strong> study and<br />

2,938 courses, including an internationally<br />

recognized aviation and aerospace program,<br />

UND has a vast array <strong>of</strong> educational choices.<br />

The <strong>University</strong> is characterized by a solid<br />

foundation <strong>of</strong> the liberal arts surrounded by<br />

a constellation <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional programs, a<br />

Highly Entrepreneurial Undergraduate<br />

Universities” in the country by Forbes.com and<br />

The Princeton Review. Forbes.com also ranked<br />

UND in the top 20 “most wired campuses”<br />

for integrating technology into teaching,<br />

research and campus life. UND was named<br />

one <strong>of</strong> the top 70 colleges and universities by<br />

the Washington Monthly (2006). Its economic<br />

impact on the state <strong>of</strong> <strong>North</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> and<br />
