MANDARIN HOTEL
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has set its sights on Hawaii’s bustling
capital city of Honolulu with plans for a new luxury hotel and branded
residences in the works, targeted to open in early 2020 on the island of
Oahu. The hotel, featuring 125 contemporary guestrooms and suites, will
be located in the heart of the Ala Moana district within walking distance
to Waikiki Beach and Ala Moana Beach. The Mandarin Oriental Honolulu
project is spearheaded by Los Angeles firm Salem Partners and Colorado
architectural firm [au]workshop, the latter of which envisions a design that
combines a modernised urban appearance with traditional indoor-outdoor
‘lanai’ aesthetics.
