Jackson is home to increasing numbers of frum families in a wide variety of neighborhoods.
It offers everything from affordable starter homes to stately mansions, with
all kinds of neighbors.
Brookwood I and II, north of County
Line near NPGS, are home to about
75 frum families. The mostly capes
and some ranches and bi-levels that
populate this area range in size from
about 1300-1800 square feet. With prices
ranging in the upper $200- to low
$300’s, many young yeshivish families
are purchasing their first homes in this
area. The nearest formal shul is in the
Pawnee area, a 15-20 minute walk.
Brookwood III, also known as Villanova,
across County Line, is the closest Brookwood
neighborhood to Lakewood, with
similar houses to the others, but with a
larger number of colonials. Brookwood
IV, while the furthest out, is beginning
to gain traction among both resident
owners and investors.
Just a bit further north, Harmony Farms
(already about 40 families) and Oakley
Hill are growing as well, and offer larger
houses in a variety of layouts, including
colonials and split levels.
Green Valley features a wide range of
home types. One can easily find larger
Beyond Lakewood (continued from page Map 8)
homes on sprawling properties, many
covering more than an acre, with a price
tag of $500k or more, while further
down the same block one might find a
cheap tear-down. A more rural neighborhood
with an out-of-town feel, it attracts
buyers spanning a range of ages,
stages, and walks of life. Aside from informal
minyanim, the area is an easy 1.5
mile walk from Westgate.
Further east, Flair is gaining popularity.
The crowd is diverse in age, and there a
variety of house styles available, some
very large but most more average in
size. Well over a minyan of families already
call Flair home.
As far east as Flair but further south,
Meadow Run and surrounding blocks,
such as Owl, Blue Heron, and Mimi, are
seeing a lot of sales. The upscale houses
in this area go for $600k and up. Further
south, around Melissa Lee and nearby
streets like Pitney and Daniel, prices are
lower, starting in the $500’s, with less
oversized houses.
in Lakewood. Check with neighbors to see how they have accommodated themselves
to the situation, and check if the school to see if they can help you arrange
your busing.
• Student services: Every town will provide its children with the services they
need, but will not necessarily do so in a neighboring town’s schools. This is an
area that has yet to be tested and confirmed.
