The Ukrainian national athletics team won the
Superleague of the European Multisport Championship
During almost all the tournament the Ukrainian team was
ranked second, following the Estonians, but in the final our
compatriots managed to beat the hosts of the competition and
win with the result of 40085 points.
Alina Shukh scored 6208 points for heptathlon beating
Valentyna Savchenko’s 33-year-old record (6179 points), and
also met the standard for participation in the World Cup. Oleksii
Kasianov was leading after heptathlon, but the javelin throw
changed the situation. At the final 1500 meters Kasianov was
second, and Vasyl Ivanytskyiv - fourth. In the end, the situation
remained the same. For the sum of decathlon Kasianov scored
7958 points. Only one athlete scored more – the Estonian Janek
Oiglane (8170). The second day of the European Multisport
Championship Oleksii began with winning the 110-meter race
with barriers (13.98 seconds), throwing discus at 41.42 m, pole
vaulting with a 4.60-meter long pole, throwing javelin to 49.93 m
and running 1500 meters within 4.36.83 min.
Vasyl Ivanytskyi set his personal record by scoring 7801
points for the sum of heptathlon. On the second day he showed
the following results: 110-meter race with barriers - 14,62 sec,
discus throw - 40,48 m, pole vaulting - 4,60 m, javelin throw -
58,44 m. He also broke another personal record by running 1500
meters within 4.32.26 min (personal record). Ruslan Malohlovets
also spent the second day of the competition under the sign
of personal records. He started the day by running 110-meter
race with barriers within 14,70 sec. Other records were throwing
javelin at a record 45.28 m and running 1500 meters for 4.39.14
min. Discus throwing (38.69 m) and pole vaulting (4.30 m),
however, failed to bring him any new victories. He was ranked
14th with the score of 7160 points. Valentyn Oliynyk was ranked
18th (his score was 6817 points: 110-meter race with barriers
- 15.73 sec, discus throwing - 36.68 m, pole vaulting - 4.40 m
(repetition of a personal record), javelin throw - 44.23 m, running
1500 m - 4.49.12 min).
Ihor Zhdanov: Our national team’s victory at the Euro-2017
on Diving is a joint victory of all Ukrainians
Kyiv held the latest stage of diving continental
championships 2017.
During one week, athletes of the Ukrainian national team
got medals ten times. The anthem of Ukraine honored the
European champions – Illia Kvasha, Hanna Pysmenska, and the
duo of Maksym Dolhov and Oleksandr Horshkovozov.
Viktoriia Kesar together with Oleksandr Horshkovozov and
Stanislav Oliferchyk won two silver awards. Two silver medals
were also given to Illia Kvasha: one for individual jumps and the
other – for the pair performance with Oleh Kolodii.
Bronze was given to Anastasiia Nedobiha, Oleh Kolodii
and debutants of the championship – Valeriia Liuliuko together
with Sofiia Lyskun.
The number of the awards is the new record for the blue
and yellow team. Last year in London they gathered eight
medals.
In addition, our compatriots got the main trophy of the
competition. Nobody knew, which team scored the greatest
number of points, until the last minutes of the contest. As a
result, with a score of 244 points Ukrainian divers defeated
the Russian team and for the first time in history won the team
championship.
Minister of Youth and Sports Ihor Zhdanov congratulated
all the participants of this event on the triumph.
«I congratulate all the team of the organizing committee,
volunteers, the Diving Federation and personally Ihor Lysov.
My congratulations to the athletes, coaches led by Tamara
Tokmacheva on this huge, tremendous success. I thank you
for the hard work and high skill, and the will to win - our team
surpassed all expectations. I also want to express my sincere
gratitude to the Ukrainian fans. Their fierce, very cool, cohesive,
and patriotic support gave our athletes a lot of energy and
inspiration. I congratulate all Ukraine. This is our common
European victory!» Ihor Zhdanov said.
