PROGRAMMING
This past year, like a lot of other art houses, we had
huge success with Woody Allen’s latest, Cafe Society.
We were actually No. 6 in the country for the opening
weekend. We pride ourselves on putting on original
programming as well, and have had two Japanese
anime film festivals in June for the past two years that
have drawn large, engaged crowds. For our late-night
series, After Hours, we have consistently oversold the
house and even had patrons sitting on the floor in
front of the screen for older films like Eternal Sunshine
of the Spotless Mind, Daisies, Monty Python and the Holy
Grail, and Metropolis.
We take great pride in our programming and
careful curation with a blend of mostly first-run
titles and a heavy dose of repertory programming,
along with special engagements of alternative programming
such as the National Theatre Live plays.
Along with those core basics, we have successfully
played week-long retrospectives of anime films, had
U.S. premieres of films including the Palme D’or–
winning director Laurent Cantet’s Return to Ithaca
