Take a trip with the Molesworth Tour Company and feel like you
have stepped back in time or into the pages of a coffee table
book of landscape photography. Be immersed in the heart and
soul of New Zealand’s South Island as you are welcomed into the
homes of locals and listen to your guide tell you stories of the early
settlers who beat all odds to live, work and raise their families.
These are no ordinary tours; they
are trips of a lifetime. A lifetime of
memories, tales and friendships.
Molesworth and the Marlborough high
country is one of our country’s most precious
and stunning natural destinations.
The area is a similar size to Stewart Island
and is literally ‘off the main road’. The first
sheep to be brought to the South Island were
driven to and through its valleys, rivers and
across the mountains. The Molesworth Station
itself is NZ’s largest ever farm.
Travelling with the Molesworth Tour
Company, be it through the Molesworth
Station or anywhere else in the South Island,
you will be enthralled, intrigued and
captivated by the stories, facts and history.
It seems that every inch of land has a tale to
tell as you listen to your guide.
I have to admit, our overnighter in Hanmer
Springs (after we headed out of the
Molesworth on day one) was a good time
to soak in all the new knowledge I had acquired
- as well as literally soak, relax and
pamper myself in the famous hot pools and
enjoy an exceptional dining experience incorporating
fresh local produce and fine local
wine.
The next day, refreshed and ready for
more discovery, tales of overcoming challenges,
of love and heartache and of prosperity,
we headed back into the Molesworth
and then into the Rainbow Station. A slight
detour to Lake Tennyson (the source of the
Clarence River and named after the beloved
British poet), we stopped and had what
I can only describe as the most delicious
morning tea with the view of all views.
Let Geoff, or one of the other professional
guides, take you to places you may
never have thought of travelling to. Tours
are available right across the South Island,
including the Abel Tasman to Farewell Spit,
the top of the West Coast and right down to
Stewart Island and Fiordland.
It seems that every inch of land has a tale
to tell when you travel with the Molesworth
Tour Company. Ask for a copy of our free
tours.
Hi Lee and all the Molesworth Team,
I want to thank you and the team for a
wonderful tour - from start to finish.
I was treated to a very special experience
with such friendly, interesting people.
I knew the scenery would be spectacular,
but what I wasn’t expecting was the
in-depth commentary, history and humour
that really completed the package beautifully.
I have certainly been “spreading the
word” that while you can drive through the
property and marvel at the scenery, taking
your tour and learning the complex background
really completes the experience.
Please convey my grateful thanks to all
your team for their professional and friendly
approach.
Every moment was a joy.
Special thanks to you for allowing me
the opportunity to experience this stunning
part of New Zealand.
Best wishes
Shelley
