Westfield Brownies
For most of the summer term the girls have spent our meeting
evenings out of the hall either on the school field tent pitching and
gadget making, playing games or laying and following trails. Other
evenings have been spent on a village quiz trail, a scavenger hunt
and a games evening. At the start of the school holidays they joined other girls
from the district at a fun day where they learnt First Aid, cooked marshmallow on
open fires after wood gathering, made chocolate Krispy cakes after melting
chocolate over a night light, made woodland craft items, filled a match box with
items from the field and wood then followed a trail in the wood blindfolded.
We are all looking forward to attending a Mad Hatters tea party in
August at the Division Guide Camp.
Meetings restart on 12th September. Any one interested in joining
enrol before 10th October and benefit from a combined terms subs and joining
fee of £25.00.
Westfield Guides
One badge was completed before the rest of the term and some weekends have
been spent at out door events. A day was spent at a water sports centre where
after trying various activities they were awarded their water safety badge.
Another day was spent on a Global Quest which according to one of the Guides
who went involving "a trip around the world visiting all seven continents and
completing a fun challenge on each one making hot chocolate with a kelly kettle,
a chariot with wooden poles, code breaking and getting my passports stamped
while on a lovely walk. A fun day" Our girls gained 73 points coming 3rd out of 17
teams so well done to them. For the last six weeks of term the girls have spent
meeting nights in Rye with Rye guides preparing for the summer camp in August
making equipment, pitching tents, building and lighting fires and getting to know
the girls they will be camping with.
In September everyone will be back in Westfield starting on
12th so if anyone would like to join us please come along to a
taster evening on 26th and like the Brownies anyone who joins
by 10th October will benefit from a combined fee of £28.00.
