From Sylvia Huggett, Westfield
Himalayan 100 mile October 2017
As a runner I fancied a different challenge
and this certainly sounds challenging as the
event is run over 5 days.
The starts are about 5.30 am with temperatures
ranging between 25 – 50 degrees
Fahrenheit at night and daytime 50 - 70 o F.
It is obviously at altitude with Day 1
starting at 12,000 feet approximately and
24 miles to run.
On Day 2 Mount Everest is the backdrop of
panoramic views so there is spectacular
scenery and 20 miles to run.
Day 3 involves completing the Mount
Everest challenge marathon, 26.4 miles,
where we have some downhill running to
encounter.
Day 4 is a bit of a recovery day as only
running 13 undulating miles.
The final day we complete 17 miles and
then will be ready to rest our weary legs.
Having lost several friends to cancer I feel
such a challenge is worthy of sponsorship
and I am raising money for St Michael’s
Hospice. If you wish to sponsor me, visit
Thank you.
