John Mason, director of
Construction Advantage
Ltd has a passion for de-
livering innovative construction
projects, from the idea
and business plan through to
the completion and handover.
His focus is on forming strong
client relationships and delivering
the brief on time. John
has 30 years’ experience in
project and construction management
in New Zealand and
Britain. His portfolio of completed
work is based on repeat
business developed through
strong performance.
The company has a mission

Their most recent project is
the Hillcrest Medical Centre,
a large expansion and redevelopment
project, sited on the
corner of Cambridge Rd and
Masters Ave. Construction
Advantage Ltd has managed
and developed the project,
working with the client from
the early days, right through to
the handover which allowed
them to control the entire process.
John Mason, commented
that a building is about really
responding to a business’s
needs and it was important not
to lose sight of this. Feasibility
reports about the idea of constructing
a building around the
business and how that could
achieved began in May 2014
and centred on addressing the
requirements of an expanding
practice.
In late 2015, they applied
for resource consent for the
likely style and setup of the
building. In February 2016
approval was given to proceed
with design and construction
began in May, with a planned
opening on 30th November,
which was a tight time frame
for design and construction. A
split building consent was applied
for with council so demolition
and earthworks could
progress. This overlapped
with a consent for the main
building works and supplementary
fit out contract.
John Mason commented
that “The council engaged
positively during of the resource
consent process and
this continued throughout the
job.” He also said he enjoyed
working with Dr Stephen
French and the Medical Centre
team as well as the business
owners. In six months
the main building was built,
fitted out and ready to roll.
The project came in two days
early, a fantastic achievement
for Construction Advantage
Ltd and in keeping with their
recognised reputation.
