<strong>Heywood</strong> Charities<br />
Fete & Parade <strong>2017</strong><br />
This year’s Charities Fete was a huge success attracting lots of families<br />
who lined the streets to watch the colourful parade through <strong>Heywood</strong><br />
with numerous community groups, local businesses and organisations<br />
taking part including Roach Dynamos Junior Football Club, Blue Rose<br />
Gifts, Kats Dance, Friends of <strong>Hopwood</strong> Park, Birch Farm Old Fashioned<br />
Ice cream, Character Closet, 3rd/4th <strong>Heywood</strong> Ravenscroft Scout Group,<br />
1st <strong>Heywood</strong> St John’s Scouting Group, 8th <strong>Heywood</strong> St Luke’s Scout<br />
Group, <strong>Heywood</strong> Girl Guide Section and many more.<br />
The parade ended at Queen’s Park which was filled with stalls from<br />
a variety of local charities including Sandon House, Little Monkeys,<br />
<strong>Heywood</strong> in Bloom and <strong>Heywood</strong> Lions. Lots of entertainment and<br />
activities for all ages were provided. <strong>Heywood</strong> Fire Fighters were in<br />
attendance with an appliance for the children to explore.<br />
<strong>Heywood</strong> Veterans Association assisted by marshalling the parade and<br />
<strong>Heywood</strong> Rotary Club provided stewards at the Fete. Also enjoying the<br />
day, MP Liz McInnes,, <strong>Heywood</strong> councillors and the Deputy Mayor and<br />
Mayoress of Rochdale, Councillor Mohammed Zaman and Naaira Zaman.<br />
With a theme of “book titles”, this year’s winners of the float category<br />
were Hey Kids (HAODS) with “Annie”. The winners of the walking section<br />
were Back o’th Moss Community Centre with “Alice in Wonderland”.<br />
Everyone involved put in a great deal of effort to contribute to a fantastic,<br />
memorable day for <strong>Heywood</strong>.<br />
The <strong>Heywood</strong> Charities Fete Committee would like to thank everyone<br />
who supported the event. A particular thank you to this year’s sponsors<br />
– <strong>Heywood</strong> Activities Partnership, Streetwise Magazine, <strong>Heywood</strong><br />
Handbook, Yearsley Group, Crown Oil and <strong>Heywood</strong> Township.<br />
Revenue from the Fete will be distributed to many deserving local<br />
charities later this year to directly benefit residents of <strong>Heywood</strong>.<br />
