On offer were 50 rams (boerbok, Ile de France, dormer and white dorper), 24 bulls (Angus, Brahman, Simmentaler, Winterberger and Boran) and 30 young maiden Boergoat ewes. The Boergoat rams of Stephanus Malan and Eli Klopper averaged R4 900, with the top price of R7200 sold by SW Malan to ZA Quwe from Whit tlesea. Ile de France rams belonging to Brian and Robert Miles averaged R7 167, with two of them fetching the top price of R8600 being sold to Willie Kilian of Kirkwood and Attie Steyl of Stutterheim. Dormer rams offered by Francois Norval averaged R7214 with the top-priced ram sold for R7800 to Hugh Ainslie of Spring Grove in the Bedford district, who also bought the most expensive Winterberger bull from Johannes Norval. The top-priced bull of the day was a Simmentaler sold by Johannes Norval to Wentzel Broers from the Adelaide district. Special thanks were offered to the sponsors who have supported the sale during the years. The buyers of the highest-priced bull and ram also received an EPK handmade whip and wine. The sellers were all dressed in sponsored shirts and all registered buyers received a Smaldeel B&R cap. Hangklip athletes shine on the track and field events THE athletes of Hoërskool Hangklip fared well in the Hirsch and SF Edwards Shield competitions in Port Elizabeth at the weekend. Mikaa-il Mohamed broke two records in the under-16 section of the SF Edwards competition. He set a new record in the 100m. His time of 10.6 seconds was an improvement on the previous record of 10.8s which was set in 1968. He also set a new 200m record. His time of 22.0s was an improvement on the previous record of 22.4s set in 2001. Hangklip won the sprint cup in the SF Edwards competition. The four sprinters involved were Anré J van Rensburg, Mikaa-il Mohamed, JW Labuschagne and Rozario Williams. Other results in the SF Edwards were: JW Labuschagne – first in the 110m hurdles, second in javelin and third in pole vault: Results in the Hirsch Sheild competition (U19): Emile Johannes – first in the 110m hurdles and Courinn Pretorius – third in shot put.
