Johnny de Villiers took the win
on +7 , with Dorian "the
Canadian" Heuer in second on
+6, and Michael Edkins taking
third on +5.
There were three two clubs,
Edkins on the 5th, Heuer on
the eighth and Riaan Coetzer
on the 16th.
Two Joplin Rendall trophy
matches took place. Danie Nel
beat Coetzer 1up and Heuer
beat Andre Smith 6 and 5.
BLUE Buffs will be ready to rumble when they
take on the best in all eight Border Rugby
sub-unions for a place in the Premier League
next season.
Border’s eight regional champions will play
each other in a knock-out format at the Buffalo
City Stadium over a period of two days.
They are the champions of the Alfred Nzo,
Amathole, Buffalo City, Chris Hani, Joe Gqabi
and OR Tambo District Municipality sub-unions.
Matches start at 11.20 am on Saturday and
noon on Sunday.

The Frontier men’s teams won the sub district

his outing at the men's
interprovincial week and more

Elaine Walker is representing
the Border ladies team this

follow. Congratulations to both
on making the teams – it is
quite an accomplishment.
The club will be a hive of
activity this weekend with a
golf committee steak evening
tournament in Port Alfred last weekend by beating
Eastern Areas by just half a point on the points
s y st e m .
One team comprised Ian van Heerden, BJ van
Heerden, Len Price and Johan van der Nest (all Tarka),
another team consisted of Bevis Richardson, Denny
Richardson, Leon Pretorius (Queenstown Golf) and Syd
Birch (Dordrecht) and the third team members were
Wayne Porter, Ulrich Steenberg, Danie Killian (Tarka)
and Peet van der Walt (Golf).
The manager was Gerrie Marais (Tarka) who is also
the president of Frontier bowls.

Hangklip athletes shine on
the track and field events
THE athletes of Hoërskool Hangklip
fared well in the Hirsch and SF
Edwards Shield competitions in Port
Elizabeth at the weekend.
Mikaa-il Mohamed broke two
records in the under-16 section of the
SF Edwards competition. He set a
new record in the 100m. His time of
10.6 seconds was an improvement on
the previous record of 10.8s which
was set in 1968.
He also set a new 200m record.
His time of 22.0s was an
improvement on the previous record
of 22.4s set in 2001.
Hangklip won the sprint cup in the
SF Edwards competition. The four
sprinters involved were Anré J van
Rensburg, Mikaa-il Mohamed, JW
Labuschagne and Rozario Williams.
Other results in the SF Edwards
were: JW Labuschagne – first in the
110m hurdles, second in javelin and
third in pole vault:
