We welcome editorial contributions to
The Journal of Australian Ceramics
Here are a few pointers:
Articles may include profiles on ceramicists (yourself or others), reviews of ceramic exhibitions and
books, upcoming events, critical reports and commentary, research papers and technica l innovations.
In fact, we welcome any subject of interest to ceramicists, potters and sculptors, galleries and collectors,
educational institutions and their students.
Please submit a digital copy (on disc or via email), as well as a hard copy of your manuscript Please
retain a copy for yourself.
The editorial policy of The Journal of Australian Ceramics is to allow the author to use his or her own
writing style. Minimum editorial interference is exercised except in grammar and spelling. At times,
articles may be edited to meet layout requirements and, when possible, the author will be contacted
prior to going to print. If you have submitted the article to more than one magazine, please tell us.
A complimentary copy of the magazine is sent to the artist and author on publication.
The quality of images is extremely important and may determine whether or not you r article is
published. A good image is in focus, with proper exposure, a full depth of field and a full range of
contrast (light to dark tones). Work hidden by very dark shadows and I or set against busy backgrounds
should be avoided. White, grey, black and earth tones make a good neutral background. Please ensure a
generous space around the object (tight cropping is undesirable). Do not alter or manipulate the images.
High resolution digital images are preferred, measuring at least 18cm X 13cm at 300dpi. Please send a
small selection of your preferred images on a disc clearly marked with the artist's name. If possible print
and supply a contents page of the disc.
Al l images must be accompanied by captions in an accompanying text document. Please list artist, title,
date, materials and technique, dimensions (h, w, d in ems) and photographer.
We also accept transparencies (35mm or large format) and good colour prints. Please send duplicates,
not originals. A ll care is taken, but the material you send passes through many hands in many different
places, so no responsibility can be accepted for lost material. Our aim is to return all photographic
material after the issue is published.
