containing large amounts of
refractory grog for added building
strength and texture. The coarse
nature of this clay makes it one
of Keane's most robust bodies for
all aspects of making, drying and
firing. Special K is an appropriate

such as tea bowls, to large items,
a metre tall and beyond.
Special K exhibits favourable
working properties for all handforming
applications. Throwing is
made possible with the use of a
sluny made from the body itself
rather than water alone. Special
K has excellent thermal shock
qualities, allowing it to withstand
multiple firing techniques.

got to know each other! During that time I've used it for
many diHerent purposes including wall panels and tiles, large
jars and vessels, even tea bowls, and it has always come
through as hardy and rel iable. Recently I've found it especially
useful in the 1120-1160(° range, particularly as it will stand
repeat firings (up to 4 if required ), tolerating some pretty
rugged treatment along the way. Basically it has always risen
