VG; What other jobs, paid or unpaid, fit around your ceramic practice?
PH: I have done some sessional teaching at the local TAFE and Uni, which was fun, but mainly I am
a domestic ubermensch, shopping, cooking, cleaning, keeping the working wife happy and running
around after the kids.
VG; What is your favourite part of the ceramic process?
PH ; Right at the beginning, imagining how good it's gunna look when it's finished; it all goes down hill
from there.
VG: What is the dreaded job that never gets done?
PH: Anything involving the computer.
VG: What are you fussy about7
PH: Everything - it's one of the great challenges in working with clay, getting it just right or knowing
when to let go and just letting it happen.
VG: If you could change one thing about your studio, what would that be?
PH : I would make it bigger - if ya got a shed ya gonna fill it up.
VG: Which sing le piece of ceramics would you most like to own?
PH : I like the association between the work and the person who made it; so, based on this criteria, I
would say one of Neville Assad-Salha's really big and gnarly potljug thingies.
VG: What would you do if you won the lottery?
PH: Buy some land, plant lots and lots of trees and build a big-assed wood kiln.
VG: How can people contact you?
PH: phart@kern.com.au
