VG: Type of clay?
PH : All sorts - Clayworks MFQ and CTC, Bennett's, David Leach porcelain etc. I recently discovered
Walkers super fine terra cotta and now ya can't get it no mo.
VG: Type of glaze?
PH: All sorts - some exotic reduced stonewares but mainly good 01' commercial clears.
VG: Type of kiln / firing?
PH : Successful ones are good.
VG: List your three favourite things that you listen to while working.
PH : I know I should say Radio National - but I mainly listen to a great local community radio station here
in Adelaide called Three D Radio 93.7 fm who playa truly excellent and diverse mix of tunes. Otherwise,
this week it's Hawkwind, Oscar Peterson or Eno era Roxy Music.
VG: Your favourite tool 7
PH: The finger closest to my thumb on my right hand, otherwise a Kemp style clock spring trimming
tool.
VG: How do you identify your work?
PH: Usually I sign my full name under the foot. I did have an elaborate dot system for dates until I got
confused. Also a stamp of a heart, usually on mugs or anything with handles.
VG: How do you sell your work?
PH: Too cheaply.
VG: Do you teach or sell from your studio?
PH: I like the idea of teaching and spreading the love but knowing what it entails .. . perhaps not.
Sales are good anywhere I
VG: What do you do with your seconds?
PH : Put them in boxes and hope they disappear.
