Beginner Pastels<br />

work from still life and life subjects<br />

as we do in Fundamentals, but with<br />

the additional element of colour<br />

included. Using colour wheels, we<br />

will develop an understanding of<br />

colour theory and how it applies to<br />

our art practice. We learn about the<br />

different types of pastels, both hard<br />

and soft, types of paper surfaces,<br />

pastels. Terms like layering,<br />

feathering, scumbling, and wet<br />

brushing will be explained and tried<br />

Portrait Drawing and Painting<br />

This class is structured to develop<br />

and nurture the student's aesthetic<br />

portraits. Students will learn basic<br />

first steps in art of painting portrait.<br />

They will learn to incorporate light,<br />

shadow (tone) and colour to make<br />

portraits alive. Students will also<br />
