Dubai based artist Kate Toledo launches her fourth solo exhibition, entitled "The<br />

Portuguese Collection," a retrospective on Portuguese history through modern travels.<br />

The pieces showcase Toledo’s musings and inspiration, realised from over a dozen canvas<br />

works, and her signature three silk scarves. The artist pays tribute to Seventeeth and<br />

Eighteenth century ceramic works, with inspiration from Portuguese tile work on religious<br />

and public buildings, and intricate patterns. The series took over three years to complete,<br />

and is, in part, inspired by Reinado Wanili – one of the few documented faiança artists.<br />

It's one of the country’s most<br />

renowned festivals, which began<br />

in an aeroplane hangar in 1999.<br />

Musical acts including Hozier,<br />

Caribou and plenty others,<br />

will stun audiences at venues<br />

across Reykjavik. The five-day<br />

festival also showcases Iceland’s<br />

best volcanic bits, including<br />

Blue Lagoon.<br />
