Roger Dubuis
Excalibur Aventador S
FOR HIM
Roger Dubuis brings rock ’n’ roll to the otherwise sedated universe of Swiss mechanical watchmaking. Credit in no small part
is owed to its founder, Mr. Roger Dubuis, who founded the brand in the mid-Nineties and who unfortunately passed away
last month. He’s left a rich legacy for the brand that includes avant-garde designs and a reputation for being the only
watchmaker in the world which ensures that 100 per cent of the watches it manufactures are certified with the Geneva seal.
The latest is this Excalibur Aventador S. The 45mm case is made from carbon fibre, the same grade used in the
construction of Lamborghinis. The self-winding mechanical calibre has been skeletonized to reduce the weight of the
timepiece. The power reserve indicator has been cleverly integrated into that skeletonized movement and is visible
between one and two o’clock on the dial. This wristwatch is limited to only 88 pieces and another version with orange
accents (instead of yellow) is limited to just eight pieces. Let’s say the chance of you seeing one on someone’s wrist is as
good as randomly spotting two Lamborghinis in the wild in a single day.
