TRAVEL A well-rested getaway doesn’t necessarily have to be in a formal or corporate environment. High-thread-count sheets, fluffy robes and butler services are available at residences too. Here, we look at two trending escapes in Asia. FOREST HILLS, TALA There isn’t much to say about the quaint village of Taraste in Tala, the Raigad district in Maharashtra, India. Perhaps that is the village’s greatest quality. Located about 72 kilometres from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, the village isn’t well-known or nearly as crowded. Of late, however, the village has seen a spike in the number of visiting UHNWIs. And there’s only one reason it can be attributed to, the luxurious eco-friendly resort: Forest Hills, Tala. Perched on the edge of a plateau adjacent to a hill slope, the 160-acre treetop property is surrounded by lush green forests and a meandering river and is about three kilometres away from the Kuda caves - the twenty-six caves that were excavated in first century B.C were home to Buddhist monks. That’s not why the resort is attracting its distinct clientele though, that has more to do with the resort’s exclusivity. The getaway only allows for nine accommodation options, with a maximum of four people for each. These are split between opulent and carefully designed cottages and treehouses. The pick of the bunch is the Glass House – a treehouse enclosed by glass and wood. Built on two levels, interconnected by a spiral staircase, the 2,000 sq ft treehouse offers unobstructed, panoramic views of the surrounding mountains on one side and the dense forest and valley on the other. Each of the two levels come with a private balcony and a cosy sit out. The composition of partly white, partly reflective and transparent surfaces within a wooden framework animate and lighten up the space. The design elements question conventional definitions of exterior and interior while reinterpreting notions of privacy and exposure. 60 EQUITY

For more information visit foresthillstala.com The other accommodation options include the Blue Butterfly – a 2,000 sq. ft. villa that features quirky design elements and an impressive array of artwork, the Pink Parrot – that features relatively vibrant interiors, the Woodpecker – an 800 sq. ft. cottage made entirely out of wood, the Camel House – an 800 sq. ft. house featuring a private garden, rear lawn and a glass-bathroom overlooking the stars, the Tree Hopper – a 1,200 sq. ft. cottage built on wooden stilts overlooking the valley, the Tree Hugger – a 400 sq. ft. treehouse featuring a private balcony, and the Mud Hut built completely out of eco-friendly biodegradable material. 61 EQUITY
