October Seminar
On October 18th, FRC members gathered at the Landrum Depot for a night of
insightful information. From 6:30 to 7:00, the group gathered to enjoy the
scrumptious spread of finger foods and beverages provided by our FRC
Hospitality Committee. Community and conversation abounded as people shared
news, made plans, and chatted about the upcoming topic of the evening.
At 7:00, the reins were handed to our
guest presenter for the evening, Martha
Kemmer. Martha presented information
from a research paper that she wrote as
part of her certification coursework in
Massage and Muscle Therapy. The
information that she shared regarding
the role of massage/muscle therapy in
the rehabilitating horse was fantastic.
She started by sharing what injuries are
suitable for this type of work, as well as
those that could be negatively affected.
She provided information from specific
case studies to illustrate each of her
examples, making them realistic and
relatable. She ended her discussion by
answering audience questions, many of
which related to massage therapy as a
maintenance practice for all levels of
horses. Martha is a wealth of
information and we were so glad that
she was able to share her knowledge
with our members. Thanks to all who
came out to soak it all up!
Patti Lovelace won a 2018 FRC membership and Linda Dickinson was the lucky
winner of our member’s raffle, a free massage, which Martha generously
donated.
