which was in high demand. So she built the second
hotel on the other side of Archer St and converted the
original hotel into a boarding house for the
railway workers.
The present day Woodford Hotel has changed hands
over the years and has undergone several renovations
throughout the decades since its 1909 beginnings,
however current owner Les Pullos wanted to bring
its original character and charm back to life restoring
much of what had been lost over the years.
“The refurbishment of a hotel such as the Woodford
Hotel being the only hotel in Woodford was an
extremely sensitive process.
“The entire feel of the village was affected by the feel
of its only hotel and yet the rapidly increasing rural
population of Woodford was crying out for a modern
facility with a wide range of services.
“The existing hotel while extremely run down, was
recognised as having a strong country town style, so
it was decided from the very beginning that this had to
be preserved,” Mr Pullos said.
He said prior to the renovation, the Woodford Hotel
had lost its way after a series of extensions and
renovations that had offered no particular theme,
