CLOSING THE GENDER GAP A SURE BET
WITH GENDER EQUALITY IN THE WORKPLACE
HAVING BECOME A SIGNIFICANT GLOBAL ISSUE, AN
INITIATIVE TO DEVELOP THE SUCCESS OF WOMEN
IN THE GAMING INDUSTRY IS BEING LAUNCHED
THROUGHOUT AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND.
Women in Gaming Australasia (WGA) is dedicated
to driving the aspirations of women in the fast-paced
world of gaming in an environment that has traditionally
been challenging for women.
The Queensland leg of WGA’s launch events saw
over 100 guests gather at Treasury Brisbane and The
Star Gold Coast in October to hear more about the
initiative’s goals.
Adding inspiration to aspiration, guest speaker and
former Australian Olympic Chef de Mission Kitty
Chiller highlighted the importance of mentorship and
education in removing gender-biased barriers.
“MOST EXPENSIVE
DRINK” CAMPAIGN
“SUPPLYING alcohol to under 18s? It could be the
most expensive drink you ever bought.”
That’s the Queensland Government’s message
in its latest campaign aimed at promoting the
laws about the irresponsible supply of alcohol to
people aged under 18 years. Depending on the
circumstances, supplying alcohol to under 18s
could result in a fine of more than $10,000.
The radio and social media advertising
campaign rolled out in October and encouraged
discussions between parents and their children
about the issue.
Hotel licensees will soon receive new campaign
posters to display at their venues. The OLGR is
encouraging licensees to display these signs in
the lead-up to Schoolies 2017 and end-of-year
celebrations and to remove posters from the
previous “No minor offence” campaign.
