QHA REVIEW | 58
Medium straw in colour
with a green hue, this
wine displays intense
aromas of white peach
and lemon. Toasty oak
with a hint of lemon curd
will also feature in the
wine whilst young and
flinty mineral characters
from wild ferment are also
evident. This Chardonnay
exhibits a smooth,
delicate palate with a
mineral lemony acidity.
Flavors of ripe stone fruit
and grapefruit interplay
with creamy toast
characters in this highly
complex, cool climate
style of chardonnay.
Brilliant deep purple in
colour, this wine displays
complex aromas of sweet
ripe strawberry fruits with
star anise, cinnamon
spices and plum blossom.
Although elegant and
supple, the wine shows
remarkable power,
intensity and length on
the palate. Framed by
ripe, moderate tannin the
graceful sweet, strawberry
fruit is complemented
but not dominated by
spice. Overall the wine
has wonderful poise and
balance with remarkable
length of flavour as all
great Pinot Noirs should.
An American inspired Pale
Ale with pine and citrus
characters, it’s clean and
crisp. Moderately light
body and carbonation
make for easy drinking. A
very strong, yet pleasant
floral smell will draw you
in for one mouthful to the
next. A good BBQ beer.
James Squire is bridging
the gap between your
mainstream offerings
and craft beers. They
are challenging, but not
too “out there” for the
masses. Cabin Fever has
a deep copper colour
with thin white head and
medium carbonation. An
aroma of malt, caramel
and slight hops results
in a taste and finish of
caramel, burnt toffee and
fruity hops with a slight
bitterness. This beer
will fit the bill for those
seeking a hop hit that’s
still refreshing.
