on ourselves, the mess involved and skill<br />
needed for a good job will have us looking for a<br />

Finding an available painter and paperhanger<br />
who will not only be reliable and affordable<br />
but also do a good job without charging an<br />
excessive rate for travel is not always easy.<br />
A.Jay Services is a husband and wife business<br />
based in Rolleston. They carry out painting,<br />
wallpapering and plastering and will also<br />
organise any electrical work and tiling if<br />
required.<br />
“As painters and paperhangers, we’re usually<br />
the last on the job. If the other tradespeople<br />
haven’t been reliable it impacts on our work.<br />
We’ve linked up with other skilled tradespeople<br />
so a top job is delivered on time,” explains<br />
Andrea Scholey who along with husband Jason<br />
runs A.Jay Services.<br />
Service is the key word for A.Jay Services who<br />
also shift furniture out of the way and relocate it<br />
in the right place after the job is completed.<br />
“One older client had many pictures on<br />
the wall. After taking photos, we took each<br />
one down before painting then went back the<br />
next day to re-hang them. It took away any<br />
inconvenience for our customer,” explains<br />

With twenty seven years<br />
in the industry, Jason who<br />
learned his skills in the<br />
United Kingdom and<br />
once tutored painting and<br />
paperhanging is highly<br />
qualified. He is perfectly<br />
complimented by Andrea<br />
who previously worked in project management.<br />
They carry out interior and exterior painting,<br />
hanging wallpaper, interior plastering and if<br />
required project managing for a customer (a<br />
service they do not charge for), ensuring work is<br />
completed on time to a high quality.<br />
A.Jay Services mainly work in the <strong>Selwyn</strong><br />
area. They work smart, utilising their time<br />
efficiently which means they are price<br />
competitive. They also pass on any material<br />
savings.<br />
Andrea also provides colour consultations,<br />
taking Resene colour palettes and wallpaper<br />
samples to the customer and advising on the<br />
effect colours are likely to have in a space,<br />

such as how a dark colour can emphasise<br />
imperfections, and the impact of natural and<br />
artificial lighting.<br />
Jason and Andrea work flexible hours so can<br />
fit in with a client’s timeline and will complete<br />
work when a customer is away if desired. They<br />
are also community minded, working with<br />
BNZ staff whose time was donated to paint the<br />
Plunket rooms, lending equipment, guidance<br />
and finishing the job; while also supporting<br />
Lincoln High School’s Gateway programme by<br />
AFTER<br />
introducing students to the trade so they can<br />
decide if it is for them.<br />
