In non-presidential election years, county caucuses are held to: elect delegates to the county and state convention; elect members of the state central committee; and, to receive proposed platform resolutions. Any registered Democrat who will be 18 or older by Nov. 6, 2018, can attend. Voter registration will be available the day of the caucus. On Feb. 24, local Dems will gather at 9 a.m. to register for the caucus, which will be called to order at 10 a.m. After a caucus chair and secretary are elected, local candidates will have an opportunity to address the group, then delegates/ alternates to the county convention will be elected. In turn, these delegates will choose delegates/alternates to the state convention (which will be held on June 23-24 in Reno). Dems interested in serving on the Nevada State Democratic Central Committee will also be chosen. Additionally, participants will be able to submit any proposed platform resolutions. Elko County Democrats meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital conference room. All interested parties are invited to attend.
