The Christchurch Southern Motorway Stage 2 is on target to be ready by early 2020, which will see a section of Main South Rd widened to four lanes and the project linked up to the Halswell Junction Rd end of the motorway. Work on the major project has been under way since November and is set to ramp up as summer approaches. The motorway aims to halve the travel time between Rolleston and Christchurch from 30 to about 15min.
