SchoolCare were approached by Tanworth-in-Arden CE Primary School to
evaluate their physical site security and Access Control provision.
Tanworth-in-Arden CE Primary School required an integrated Access Control
solution to allow access to areas of the school based on user permissions,
to ensure that only permitted individuals could access the site.
The improvement to site access was required as part of a strategic overhaul
of site security and access.

Tanworth-in-Arden CE Primary School are a co-educational primary
school in Tanworth-in-Arden for pupils aged 5-11.
THE CHALLENGE
SchoolCare were approached by Tanworth-in-Arden CE Primary
School to help improve their Site Access and security.
The school is a large rural site with multiple interconnected
buildings as well as a nursery and after school club areas with
separate entrances. Each entrance to the school has a slightly
different requirement in terms of access control, including timed
and public access.
With SchoolCare’s focus on best value, the challenge was to deliver
all of the requirements without compromising on quality.
THE SOLUTION
Being partnered with Paxton (an industry leader in access control
solutions), SchoolCare were able to construct a solution from a
huge portfolio of products to meet the needs and requirement of
the school.
The deployment was based on Paxton’s Net2 Access Control
platform and consisted of access control for 19 internal and
external doors.
Controlled centrally users are provisioned into the system via their
photo ID Badges and granted access based on their role or group
as well as the time of day and time of year.
This degree of granularity allows access during the holidays to be
controlled, as well as access to external third parties who use the
school. Another key benefit to the solution is that users who are
no longer allowed access can be “coded out” of the system with no
interruption to other users.
The system is fully integrated with other existing systems such as
Fire Evacuation, meaning that relevant doors are released
automatically when the fire alarm sounds.
The solution was supplied and installed by SchoolCare over a 10
day period, this included all the necessary cabling and electrical
work, carried out by our inhouse electricians.

removal and replacement of
some limited stand alone access
control provision which was in
existence on some doors.
THE RESULTS
As a result of the new access
control deployment, the school
now benefit from a powerful,
easy to use system covering
all aspects of site access, both
internal and external.
The key requirements which
were specified by the school
which have been achieved are:
• Easy to set up and use.
• Provision of time based
access.
• Ability to control site access
based on user role.
• Easily expandable, should the
need arise.
• Allowing controlled access to
third party visitors to site.
Pupils and staff are now
protected by a solution offering
optimal safeguarding and
security, without compromising
the flow through the building.
