Little Oaks
Little Oaks One on tour! Due to a local council
election on 16th November we could not open
nursery as usual, but we were fortunate enough
to be hosted by the friendly folk at Hazlemere
Youth Centre on Rose Avenue. Our little ones,
all aged 2-3, enjoyed a morning of Playball
games followed by music, stories, lunch and
Pudsey face painting (from our very own Amy
Pass with her ‘A Touch of Sparkle’ hat on). A
great time was had by all and by all accounts
sleep was not hard to come by that night!
This is a great opportunity to spotlight The
Avenue Café which is attached to the
Hazlemere Youth Centre. Great coffee along
with breakfast and lunch menus are offered by
Village Voice December 2017/January 2018
Holly and Toni, along with yummy cakes and
other treats. Do visit soon and make a particular
note to go along on 12th December between
9am – 6pm for their Christmas special: they’ll
be offering a Christmas menu, arts and crafts,
carol singing and there’s a rumour that Santa
may even pop in!
Amazing autumn weather has meant that
Forest School children have enjoyed dappled
sunshine in the woods this term, with scrunchy
rather than soggy leaves, and much excitement
around tree climbing and the building of bug
houses. In today’s risk-averse climate we take
seriously our responsibility to teach children
how to manage their own risks through play;
resilient, confident children (and eventually
adults) are the natural result of such
opportunities at an early age.
As December approaches we are in the throes
of Nativity preparations at Little Oaks. If you
pass by any of our nurseries in Tylers Green,
Penn or Forty Green and you may well hear
snatches of seasonal singing. At Little Oaks
Beaconsfield in Forty Green we will present our
Christmas production on 13th December, then
at Little Oaks One on 14th and finally our Little
Oaks Two children will tell the Christmas story
in their own special way at St Margaret’s
Church on Friday 15th. Look out for photos in
the February issue of VV! Ruthie Pocock, www.
