Guides, Brownies & Rainbows
122 girls are enjoying being part of the largest
girl charity in the UK thanks to our dedicated
team of Leaders and helpers. Thanks to Village
Voice for finding 2 volunteers this term after my
last report plea for help in the Rainbow Unit.
Our Rainbow Unit joined over 300 Rainbows
from the County for a day out at Whipsnade
Zoo to celebrate their 30th Birthday. They had a
wonderful day with perfect weather.
Crime Prevention is an interest badge that 5th
Brownies are working on with a visit from the
local Community Police. They also are looking
forward to making crafts and cooking during the
rest of the term and also going out for a
Christmas Dinner at the end of term.
Guides held a local “Bake Off” at one of their
meetings. I was fortunate to be a judge to
sample some of the food that patrols cooked on
camping stoves. The range of food was very
tasty including a lovely prawn cocktail,
homemade beef burgers and my favourite,
pancakes. Congratulations to the Unicorn patrol
who won the best bakers.
This term the Guides have an animal theme to
their programme and have had a talk from
Guide Dogs for the blind and will be holding a
Christmas Fayre to raise money for this charity.
Adult Guiding look forward to their County
Event which Kingswood Trefoil Guild are
organising. Over 80 members are expected to
attend a “Victorian Christmas” in Wendover.Sue
Our Autumn jumble was another success.
Thank you to everyone who helped make it all
work so well. We have a large core of helpers
who always turn out and or provide services for
us over the weekend. Giles lets us have the use
of a van over the weekend which is so useful.
We also have supporters like JNP who very
generously sponsor our jumble sales & provide
large visual advertising boards. A big thank you
to the above and everyone who helps us. See
you at the next one, Sat 21st April 2018,
The group is always on the lookout for new
blood. Beaver, Cub & Scout leaders / helpers
are in short supply & we need you. Also boys
& girls to join the sections. If you want to put a
name forward for membership then please
contact us and request an application form.
