Penn Pond Waders Golf Society
We have nearly completed our fixtures for 2017
and a most successful year it has been with 7 one
day events plus a tour to Tenerife and the most
recent vist to the Belfry where we tested ourselves
on how to play golf while storm Brian was blowing
a gale...
We have one event left this year which is the
Captains Charity Day, this is being held at Ashridge
Golf Club on Friday 1st December in aid of the
Macmillan Cancer Trust so we are hoping for a
good turn out which in turn will help the charity..
If there any local people that have not heard about
us and are interested on playing golf and would
like to know more about the golf society then
please contact me and I can give you some more
information. Contact Bob Teuton Tel: 07973137446
It just remains for me to wish you all a very Merry
Christmas from all of the Penn Pond Waders
Members. Bob Teuton
High Wycombe Choral Society
This old-established Choir meets in central High
Wycombe on Monday evenings at 7.45pm in The Hub,
Easton Street (HP11 1NJ) which is close to a multi-storey
car park and not far from High Wycombe train station.
The Season runs from early September until May or June,
with our main concerts held in November and April (this
one is usually the opening concert of the Wycombe Arts
Festival, both in the Parish Church.
These concerts are often beautiful classical masses,
accompanied by West Forest Symphonia, who also play
other works, often concertos with excellent soloists. We
also combine with other choirs for larger works such as
Carmina Burana.
We enjoy singing carols for charity at various venues and
sometime have a December concert, as well as running
social events, such as a Quiz Night, In surrounding
villages. At present we have about 35 members but
would love to expand and would welcome all voices –
Soprano, Alto, Bass. Tenor! For further information contact
Hazlemere Gardening Association
Autumn Social: In October just over 100 of our members
and guests attended our annual social evening at the
Hazlemere Community Centre, in Rose Avenue. The speaker
was Dr. Sandy Primrose who gave a very interesting and
informative talk on “Indiana Jones meets Horticulture: the
plant hunters who transformed our garden”
This was followed by an excellent buffet supper.
We have now closed for the winter break and will be
holding our AGM on Monday 4th December at Cedar Barn.
We already have our orders in for next year and should be
fully stocked with composts, seeds, and weather permitting
potatoes, ready for our first Sunday opening on 4th
February 2018, from 10am to 12 noon. Peter Pearman
