The Wandering Postbox...<br />
Residents will be interested to know that Royal<br />
Mail has indicated its intention to relocate the<br />
main village postbox to its original location on<br />
the forecourt of the Londis shop near Widmer<br />
Pond.<br />
They can’t be specific but have indicated that<br />
the work will take place before March 2018.<br />
Long-standing readers may remember that<br />
until 1988 the village Post Office (including this<br />
postbox) operated from a shop where the<br />
Londis shop is currently located. This site was<br />
subsequently redeveloped and the Post Office<br />
and postbox were relocated to a shop that was<br />
then operating at the junction of Bank Road and<br />
Church Road East just down the road from the<br />
Village Hall.<br />
As many residents will recall, this shop and<br />
the Post Office closed down in 2007 and the<br />
property was converted to residential use.<br />
However, the postbox remains ‘orphaned’ in<br />
this location.<br />
The Residents Society welcomes the news<br />
from Royal Mail and hopes that the relocation<br />
of the postbox will benefit the wider community<br />
and contribute to supporting the Londis shop,<br />
which is an important asset to us all. Peter Miller<br />

The Simpson Centre<br />
and Penn Surgery are<br />
launching a new online<br />
service for all patients,<br />
called Patient Access.<br />
Patient Access will<br />
provide upgraded<br />
access to online<br />
appointments and<br />
repeat prescriptions, with more exciting<br />
developments to come in the next few months.<br />
All patients who currently use the existing<br />
online services are advised to re-register for a<br />
Patient Access account by 5 January 2018, to<br />
allow them to continue ordering repeat<br />
prescriptions online and to book or cancel an<br />
appointment online. To register, please visit<br />

instructions and read the Frequently Asked<br />
Questions that will help you understand how to<br />
do this. Please be aware that re-registration<br />
requires a visit to the surgery reception.<br />
From 15 January 2018, the current system<br />
will no longer be available.<br />
Both the Simpson Centre and Penn Surgery<br />
are closed on Monday 25th, Tuesday 26th<br />
December and Monday 1st January, if you need<br />
medical attention please dial 111 for assistance.<br />

New meetings to plan and organise the 2018<br />
Penn 7 & Fun Run are underway, and we have<br />
selected our charities, which will be announced<br />
at the Sports & Social club on Thursday 21st<br />
